Commissioning simply means a painting, custom made, just for you or to suit your needs. This can start with something for your room you have not been able to find elsewhere, but thinking outside the box, means this could be a special celebratory gift for a special birthday, anniversary or corporate retirement. These paintings, being of a personal nature, should be thought of in a personal sense. A special place, perhaps her garden, always in bloom or his favorite golf hole. Maybe a loved vacation spot, home or farm or even classic car, plane or boat. So, you see, there are many meaningful options and a one on one creative process that is fun.

We are in the together. It’s up to me to listen to you, make suggestions and for us to form ideas that will get the results you want. I often share with my clients that I will not lead you, but rather walk beside you, because if I’m leading we will not go where you want. Guidance is different from leading. I want you to feel you are an important part of the completed work of art and that it is something I was happy to create with you.

As we begin to develop a concept, visual aids such as photographs or a sketch, such as the one seen below, will help us. The sketch gives us an idea of composition, details, special notes and even colors. Also, if possible, I will bring frames or several other paintings to try in your chosen spot to help us properly size the commissioned painting.
